Impressionist Light
Everything in here is about the same twenty minutes of the day. I started with the Monet because of the steam, and then found I was collecting weather rather than places.
Streets & Thresholds
Pictures of people on their way somewhere. Half of these are doorways, arcades or crossings: the moment before arriving rather than the arrival itself. The Caillebotte is the one I would defend hardest, umbrellas and all.
Nocturne
Painted after dark, or pretending to have been. Walk this wall from the far end back towards the door.
Creatures
Animals painted by people who clearly watched them for a long time first. The Koson cat has never once looked at the goldfish, and I think that is the whole joke.
Dutch Golden Age
Borrowed light, mostly. Interiors where you can tell the time of day from the floor. These reward standing closer than you would with anything else in the gallery.
