Anne Vallayer-Coster

A French painter of still lifes, admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in 1770, at twenty-six. Her work won her collectors and the interest of Marie Antoinette, but the fall of the monarchy, her main patrons, eclipsed her reputation.
