Hiroaki Takahashi

A Japanese woodblock artist, also known as Takahashi Shōtei, who began an apprenticeship with his uncle at the age of nine. From 1907 he designed prints for the publisher Watanabe Shōzaburō, in the shinsaku-hanga and later shin-hanga movements; the 1923 Kantō earthquake destroyed the blocks for around five hundred of them.
