Jan Asselijn

A Dutch Golden Age painter born in Dieppe to a French Huguenot family, who travelled in France and Italy. He was one of the first Dutch painters to bring the clear, fresh manner of Claude Lorrain to landscape, and Rembrandt, apparently a friend, made an etching of him.
