Jan Davidsz. de Heem
A still-life painter active in Utrecht and Antwerp, and a major figure of the genre in both Dutch and Flemish Baroque painting. His lavish arrangements of fruit, flowers, dishes and glass were in such demand that he could hardly keep up, and fetched some of the highest prices of the Dutch Golden Age.

Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke
The Antwerp painters' guild; membership as a master was required to take apprentices or sell paintings to the public in Antwerp. Bruegel entered it in 1551, de Heem in 1635 or 1636.
