'World of Art' was both a Russian magazine and the movement it fostered, founded in 1898 by a circle that included Alexandre Benois, Konstantin Somov and Léon Bakst. Through articles, lectures and exhibitions it set out to show the Russian public new trends in the arts, and it helped shape the Russian avant-garde.
