Tsukioka Yoshitoshi
Often called the last great master of ukiyo-e, the Japanese woodblock print. Apprenticed to Kuniyoshi as a boy, he kept the art alive as Japan modernised in the late 1800s.

Yoshitoshi was apprenticed to Kuniyoshi in 1850, aged 11, and received from him the art name 'Yoshitoshi' marking his place in the Utagawa school. He is now seen as Kuniyoshi's most important pupil and the last great master of ukiyo-e.
