Jacob Maris

A Dutch painter who, with his brothers Willem and Matthijs, belonged to the Hague School, and was considered the most important Dutch landscape painter of the late 19th century. After studying in Antwerp and Paris, from about 1872 he painted the Dutch countryside of bridges, windmills and old quays.
