Vienna Secession
Closely related to Art Nouveau, the Secession was founded in 1897 by Austrian artists including Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann and Otto Wagner, who left the conservative artists' association in protest. It had its own exhibition hall and magazine, Ver Sacrum, and split in 1905 when Klimt and others left.

Founded 3 April 1897 by Klimt (first president), Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann and Joseph Maria Olbrich. Klimt, Hoffmann and Moser resigned on 14 June 1905.

Applied-arts workshop founded 1903 by Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser. Issued a famous series of artist postcards; Klimt's Stoclet Frieze was made for a Wiener Werkstätte commission.
