Alfred Sisley
Born in Paris to British parents, he painted almost nothing but landscapes and was the most consistent of the Impressionists in working outdoors. He met Monet, Renoir and Bazille in Charles Gleyre's studio in 1862. He struggled with poverty all his life, and recognition came only after his death.

Impressionist exhibitions
The eight independent group shows, 1874-1886. Pissarro alone showed at all eight; Cassatt at four; Renoir 1874, 1876, 1877, 1882; Seurat and Signac only at the 8th (1886). Manet never exhibited with them.
